"THE ETIQUETTE OF SUICIDE.

"You have met Sandor, and there is no doubt anywhere at all that he is indubitably, irrevocably, and unalterably the man for you - and you for him. But he is happily married to Conrad, affectionately known as Connie, and despite your pleas, protestations of love, etc. etc. etc. he isn't about to leave him...

"Oh, you've had your little affair, backstreet from Connie, and what he considered a pleasant interlude you have adopted as a lifelong passion. Then, in the extremity of your emotion, you threaten him with the fact that if he doesn't give up his silly, ten-year flirtation with Connie for you, it's not going to be lifelong, but lifeshort, nipped in the bud with a razor, bridge-plunge, or whatever's handy";

*historical article on the Dorian Society entitled "Four Candles On The Cake: Or Dorian's Four Years Of Hassel" [sp?] ("Some said it would never last. Others insisted the result would be jail. But many had faith, and time is proving them right");

*article "On the Other Hand" by Robert Balsley profiling two male lovers ("The following conveys the unique quality of communication that exists between two men, Wayne and Collin - pseudonymns, both of whom I met for the first time July 4th, 1971. Collin, the more verbose of the two, chatters with an almost unrestrained gaity, while Wayne, the more intense, answers quietly and with select words. From this exchange a remarkable quality of communication is derived - tacit, understated - weaving itself throughout their union");

*gay social column "Seattle Scene" by Charlie Warren ("Lordy, there's so much going on!");

*theatre review of a local performance of "Boys in the Band" by Alan Brigs ("Generally speaking, the cast was obliged, regardless of their personal sexual orientation, to convince us that they were living, breathing, screwing homosexuals. This issue is packed with reader-contributed photographs, illustrations, and artwork. Containing a non-assimilationist world view and radical faeiry political consciousness, this publication is marvelous reading for those gay men who have (or long to) rejected the stress of urban life and the heterosexual power structure, and have chosen instead to live and thrive in rural, sometimes remote rural, areas of the United States.
